Housewife cleaning: How to Dry Your Soaking Wet Shoes This Rainy Season

It’s officially rainy season here in Thailand and I am sure many people are regularly dealing with the problem of wet shoes. Your favourite trainers all soaked? Not ideal. If we don’t wash them as soon as we get home, it’s going to leave some ugly strains. But the thing is they never dry fast enough for the next use, or there isn’t enough sun out in the rainy season anyway. Today I’m here with some tips that will help make your footwear dry faster.

Hairdryers

The first one is the easiest solution: hairdryers. First of all, wash your rain-soaked shoes with water to clean off the dirt. Then squeeze as much water out as possible. After that, blow dry your shoes with the dryer until they’re dried. If possible, put your shoes in an airy spot overnight to get rid of any leftover moisture. With this method, you can wear your favourite pair of shoes again the very next day.

Newspaper

This is a classic method to dry your shoes, but also to get rid of odour. Simply ball up newspapers and stuff them inside your shoes, and that’s it. The pages will absorb all the moisture from the shoes and remove any unwanted odour along with it.

Tissue paper

If you’re worried that newspaper alone won’t be enough, wrap your shoes in tissue paper on the outside to help them dry fast. Leave overnight for better results.

Old towels

In case you don’t have any newspapers lying around, old towels also do the same trick. Roll them up and stuff inside the shoes. Tie the laces and put the shoes in an airy spot.

Fans

Simply put your shoes in front of a fan at the strongest setting. Leave them there until dry. Easy enough!
