Today, I have some tips for carpet cleaning and take only a few minutes and will get rid of dust, germs and stains. These tips will change your perspective about carpet cleaning and make you see that it does not have to be an energy-consuming task.
- 1. You should vacuum your carpet at least once a week. If you have pets, you should vacuum it more often because pet fur can stick to the carpet.
- 2. If there’s a stain on the carpet, use a slightly wet cloth to gently wipe the stain. Do not use force as it can disfigure the carpet and actually make the stain worse.
- 3. Clean only the stained area. Do not wash the entire carpet.
- 4. When you are cleaning the stained area, do not walk on it. If you have pets, keep them off the area otherwise it might cause a new stain.
- 5. After finishing cleaning the stained area, dry it with a hair dryer. Don’t dry your carpet in direct sunlight.
- 6. If you don’t have time to regularly vacuum your carpet you can use a robot vacuum cleaner and schedule a timer to launch the autovacuum. This way you can clean not only your carpet but also your floor.
- 7. If you want to wash the entire carpet, I suggest you use cleaning products that are made especially for the task. If you use a washing machine, set the water level lower than usual to reduce the risk of damaging your carpet and washing machine.
- 8. Dry the washed carpet in a ventilated area. Make sure that the carpet is dried within 24 hours to prevent fungus.
Cleaning tips for different types of stains
- • Sprinkle salt or detergent powder on the stain and leave it there until they have absorbed the stain, then wipe the stained area with a cloth soaked in soapy water.
- • If there are bread crumbs stuck on the carpet, wipe them off with dishwashing liquid.
- • To clean an oil stain on carpet, sprinkle baby powder on the stained area and wipe it off.
- • For gum stains, you can easily remove with ice.
- • A deep coffee stain can be removed by spraying water mixed with vinegar, leaving for a while then wiping off with a clean cloth.
