How many days have you been working from home? Besides working, I bet some of you haven’t done much else at home, right? I have a suggestion. Let’s try coating your car with these easy steps to beat the boredom. Maybe cleaning and coating the car will take your mind off this crisis and relax you a little bit. Mental stability is as important as physical exercise during a time like this. Anyway, let’s see how it’s done.

Start with washing your car:

  1. 1. First, spray water all over your car to get rid of dust and grime. Oh, just a suggestion, it is better to wash your car in the shade than out in the sun.
  2. 2. Clean the wheels before other parts because that is where most dirt is and if we leave it for later, the dirt from the wheels can stain the other cleaned parts.
  3. 3. Clean from the top to the bottom by starting with the roof of the car. I suggest soaking towels or sponges in a car wash solution beforehand to prevent creating scratches.
  4. 4. You should not let your car air dry after using a car wash solution. Instead, clean immediately with water to avoid any soap stains.
  5. 5. Dry your car with microfibre cloth. Use one piece of cloth for each part of the car to prevent creating scratches.

Moving on to coating the car:

  1. 1. After drying the car thoroughly, you should coat it immediately. If your car doesn’t have any deep scratches or stains, you can coat it repeatedly with a coating solution without polishing. This way, the coating gets thicker each time and works better at preventing grime and scratches. Normally one coating lasts about three months.
  2. 2. There are many car coating products in Thailand, but I would recommend a solution that can be done at home by yourself, which is usually reversible and can be wiped off.
  3. 3. As for those who prefer a wax solution, I recommend using a microfibre cloth to apply it to your car. This can also be done at home, but the downside is that it requires regular applications in order for it to last.
  4. 4. If you have some experience with car coating, using a homemade solution that isn’t wax is easier. This leaves a shinier finishing coat and lasts longer than wax. However, if you leave the coating on for too long, it’s become harder to remove, hence it requires a skilled handyman.
  5. 5. If your car is parked for a long period of time, cover it with a car cover to prevent dust from gathering. It also helps the coating last a little longer.
