Mr. Househusband’s Simple Kitchen Tips presents Recipe for Gyudon

If you miss vacationing in Japan and the taste of the local food, you will love the recipe I’m introducing today. Gyudon has been a staple in Japanese cuisine for decades. Let’s check out the recipe.

Ingredients

  1. 5 grams of ground ginger
  2. 1 sliced onion
  3. 300 grams of sliced beef
  4. 200 grams of Shirataki noodles
  5. 1 tablespoon and 1 teaspoon of sugar
  6. 1 teaspoon of dashi powder
  7. 2 tablespoons of sake
  8. 2 tablespoons of mirin
  9. 6 tablespoons of shoyu
  10. 1½ cups of water
  11. 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil

Method

  1. Mix the ground ginger, sugar, dashi powder, mirin, shoyu, and water together in a bowl.
  2. Put vegetable oil and sliced onion in a pan and stir fry over high heat until the onion is cooked.
  3. Add the beef and fry it until it is medium cooked.
  4. Add the seasoning mixture and boil over medium heat until the mixture has reduced by half.
  5. While simmering the ingredients, boil the Shirataki noodles. When they’re cooked, rinse with water to get rid of the smell. Then cut them in half and stir fry in a pan.

You can add a soft boiled egg as a topping to this dish. All the ingredients used in the recipe are available at Big C Super Center branches or you can order them from our online store here.
