If You Love Someone, Take Care of Them: Cure a Hangover with These Foods

Happy first Monday of the year to all of you. Did any of you throw a party last night to celebrate the last day of the precious long holiday? For those of you who did, I bet many of you woke up with an awful hangover. But worry not! I’ve compiled a list of some of the best hangover cures for you.

Americano

Drink a cup of hot Americano coffee this morning. The caffeine helps with the dizziness, and drinking liquid makes you go to the toilet more often, hence releasing the alcohol in your bloodstream.

Hot water and lime juice

This is a home remedy for hangover. It is said to decrease the leftover toxins in your liver, too.

Ginger juice

Ginger tea is well known for reducing grogginess and nausea. Mix one sachet of ginger powder with hot water and sip it in the morning. Ginger is a diuretic, which helps in driving the alcohol out of your system.

Painkillers

Hangovers usually come with an annoying headache. So don’t fight it and take some medicine. It is even said that taking a painkiller right after drinking can decrease the severity of the hangover headache when you wake up. Do not take more than one pill, though, as it can be lethal when mixed with ethanol in alcohol.

Banana

A banana is an effective hangover cure. It is high in potassium, which helps with the tiredness. It also reduces stomach acid and helps settle your upset stomach. Carbohydrates in bananas also plays a role in fuelling your body and absorbing any leftover alcohol in your blood.

Electrolyte drinks

Drinking alcohol dehydrates your body that’s why it is crucial to consume enough liquid the next morning. Electrolyte drinks are great for adding not only water, but also the minerals that you lose while drinking, back to your body. Grab a bottle from a convenience store or pharmacy. Keep them on your desk top and sip constantly throughout the day to stay hydrated.

Soup

Although it is recommended to eat protein when you’re hungover, it’s not easy to down anything when you feel nauseous. Try something that is easy to digest like boiled eggs, congee, or simple soup. The warmth of the soup will at least soothe your tiredness and make you feel refreshed.

Chocolate milk

Not only is chocolate milk delicious, but it also cures hangovers well. The sweetness raises your blood sugar levels and cures you of the headache.

Vitamin water

Drink some vitamin water that is rich in Vitamins B and C to help relieve the severity of a hangover. They are easy to find in convenience stores. To keep your body hydrated, drink enough liquid to make up for the loss of water while you were drinking.

Look for these easy cures before heading to work on the first Monday of the year or else you’ll be really having a bad day at work.
