Various Flavors of ‘Mae Sawang’ Chili Paste

Due to social distancing measures, people are advised to stay home and minimize their time in public places such as markets, malls and restaurants. Consequently, we are eating more meals at home. Today, I’ll introduce a ready-to-eat dish that you should have at home. That is chili paste. Mae Sawang is one of the widely known chili paste brands.

The Mae Sawang brand was founded by Wan Booprasert. She was living in Wang Tangmo village, Khamang sub-district, Chumsaeng district, Nakhon Sawan and often served the dish to her family. Later, she shared the chili paste with her neighbors and often received praise from them. One of her children, Sawang, learned the chili paste recipes and used them to start her business in Nakhon Ratchasima. From a small chili paste stand in a market, today Mae Sawang has become one of the most famous products of the province, and its products are available in supermarkets nationwide.
